Upon arriving at the palace, the hermit observed the king's melancholic demeanor. He approached King Assaka and said, 'Your Majesty, I perceive a shadow of doubt upon your noble spirit. What troubles your heart?' King Assaka, feeling a sense of trust in the hermit's presence, confessed his feelings of inadequacy due to his non-royal birth. The hermit listened patiently and then spoke with profound wisdom. 'King Assaka,' he said, 'true nobility does not stem from the bloodline or the circumstances of one's birth, but from the quality of one's character, the purity of one's intentions, and the righteousness of one's actions. Your wisdom, your justice, and your compassion are the true markers of a noble king, far more significant than any royal lineage.' The hermit further explained that a person's worth is measured by their deeds and their adherence to Dharma, not by their ancestry. He recounted stories of great individuals who, despite humble beginnings, achieved greatness through their virtues and their dedication to serving others. King Assaka was deeply moved by the hermit's words. He realized that his focus on his birth had been a misguided obsession. From that day forward, he embraced his identity with pride, understanding that his true nobility lay in his character and his commitment to righteous rule. He became an even more steadfast and confident leader, inspiring his subjects not to judge others by their origins, but by their actions and their inner worth. His reign was marked by an era of unprecedented equality and justice, where merit and character were valued above all else.
